ABACUS/DaVinci is based on a flexible client-server architecture as well as a relational database for data maintenance. Herein the use of the following proven standard technologies enables the reliability of the system which is necessary for productive utilisation:
As a web-based application, client access to ABACUS/DaVinci takes place via a standard web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
Additional installation of other components such as a database or webserver on the client is not necessary. The underlying architecture furthermore permits distributed installation of the database, the webserver and the application ABACUS/DaVinci on different servers.
Since ABACUS/DaVinci, with the exception of the database components, is Java-based, the application can be installed independently of the operating system. Distributed installation of the actual ABACUS/DaVinci application as well as the database and the webserver is possible at any time.
